چکیده

We present here the synthesis of a highly O-carboxymethylated chitosan derivative. First, an improvedprotocol for the two-step synthesis of N-trimethyl chitosan (TMC) from chitosan was developed, yield-ing a maximum degree of quaternization (DQ) of up to 46.6%. Successively, the chitosan derivativeO-carboxymethyl-N-trimethyl chitosan (CMTMC) was synthesized from the TMC obtained by applyingan optimized synthesis pathway. In contrast to previous reports, the optimized protocol was shown toyield very high rates (>85%) of O-carboxymethylation of CMTMC, as shown by1H NMR and heteronu-clear single quantum correlation (1H–13C HSQC). Finally, in vitro cytocompatibility (viability >80%) of thepolymer was demonstrated using human fibroblasts. PATRULEA, Viorica, et al. Optimized synthesis of O-carboxymethyl-N,N,N-trimethyl chitosan. Synthesis and Characterization of Fe3O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles Coated with Carboxymethyl Chitosan Grafted Sodium Methacrylate

N-sodium acrylate-O-carboxymethyl chitosan [CMCH-g-PAA(Na)] bound Fe3O4 nanoparticles were developed as a novel magnetic nanoparticles with an ionic structure that can be potentially used in many fields. CMCH-g-PAA (Na) was obtained by grafting of sodium polyacrylate on O-carboxymethyl chitosan, which is an amphiphilic polyelectrolyte with the biocompatibility and biodegra...

Reduction in postsurgical adhesion formation after cardiac surgery in a rabbit model using N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan to block cell adherence.

OBJECTIVE The study objectives were to (1) assess the efficacy of N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan on postsurgical adhesion formation after cardiac surgery using a rabbit cardiac injury model and (2) explore the mechanism of action of N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan in the prevention of postsurgical adhesions using in vitro experimentation. METHODS In the rabbit cardiac injury model, cardiac injury was ...

Tungstophosphoric acid embedded magnetic chitosan as a green catalyst for the synthesis of N-cyclohexyl-3-aryl quinoxaline-2-amines

In the present study, a novel catalyst was well designed by incorporating the tungstophosphoric acid into the magnetic chitosan, as highly stable composite, in which the iron oxides were used the strong super-magnetic core. The prepared composite was characterized by several methods, including FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM and EDS and its catalytic activity was examined in a facile, green and highly effi...
